So there have been lots of bellies and babies this summer! I recently just shot my fourth session of the summer! Two of those ladies have had their babies–both healthy boys and the other two should be delivering quite soon! All very exciting!
I really enjoy doing these sessions because you can see both in person and in the photos how very excited the couples are! Also, there is always something unique that each couple brings to the session–something that is significant to them. In all, we have a lot of fun and end up with some fantastic shots of both the bellies and the couples! Since I have some many, I thought I’d highlight the sessions in one blog and share some of the best with you!
Nat and Kevin
Nat and Kevin were the first of the sessions this summer. They were great to shoot because you could see how very excited they were about the arrival of their first child, Cameron. Nat actually went into labour 7 weeks early, while on vacation! And if I remember correctly, Cameron weighed only 4lbs at birth! I had the chance to meet him and wow, he was so tiny!! I couldn’t get over how tiny his little fingers and fingernails were! I don’t think I’ve held a baby that small! Cameron is doing well, as are his elated parents! Here are a few highlights from their session! Congratulations Kevin and Nat and welcome to the world, Cameron!

Liz and Marco
You may remember Liz and Marco from my old blog–as I was one of her wedding photographers! I thought it was pretty cool that I was able to now do her mat photos for her.

Liz is a natural in front of the camera–I’m convinced that her laid back and easy going nature contributes to this! We definitely had a lot of fun doing this shoot! We also made sure to include their dogs and their Kawasaki bikes in the shoot! Don’t worry, Liz didn’t go anywhere on the bike, the baby was safe!
Here are some of my faves from this session
Safety first!

Both Liz and Marco love riding their bikes, so this was a must! Talk about cool parents!

This was so cute too–Liz made little sleepers for Marco that say “Kawasaki rider in training” and “My daddy rides a Kawasaki” So cute!!
Liz and Marco also have a huge property way out in the sticks so we thought we’d take some shots in the tall grasses. I think they turned out beautifully

Liz had found this beautiful silk fabric (which reminds me a lot of material used at our wedding!) so we draped it around her (actually just hid her clothes with it!) and got some very, shall we say boudoir-esque maternity shots. How gorgeous is this!? She totally makes pregnancy look sexy–without even trying!

And of course, we can’t forget her dogs–Lady and Bear–who with a bix of coaxing (we smeared peanut butter on her tummy) weren’t too reluctant to give the baby a kiss!

Liz and Marco just recently became the proud parents of a healthy baby boy! Welcome to the world Liam!

Stacy and Mike
My third session of the summer was with my cousin, Stacy, and her husband Mike. I had secretly hoped that she would ask me to do these photos for her–so glad she did! It definitely was a fun shoot! Stacy and Mike also have a beautiful country home, with a gorgeous property! Stacy is quite the gardener, so there was no shortage of beautiful spots to set up photos.

The best part of the shoot, in my opinion, was when Stacy dawned Mike’s fireman gear! She is definitely one hot mama (to be!) I love how this one turned out! Too cute

I adore this shot of her–how adorable!!

Stacy and Mike are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child–blue or pink you ask? We’ll just have to wait and see!!
Ela and David
Last but certainly not least, I rescently spent the afternoon with Ela, David and their firstborn, Aiden–quite possibly the most adorable little boy ever! Ela and David are expecting their second child, a little girl, and had hoped for a somewhat informal maternity session. Ela wanted the focus to be on her little man, as she didn’t really have many photos of him. She asked that I try and capture him as he is–smiley, happy and fun-loving! I had forgotten how fast toddlers move! Getting a child to sit for a photo is much more of a challenge than I had anticipated! Dogs can be coaxed when you dangle a treat, but toddlers–they are on the go! Aiden definitely keeps them on their toes! We did manage to get him to give the baby a kiss, captured him playing and really, just being happy. I think the pictures speak for themselves. Here are a few from the day.

This is my favourite of them all so far–I LOVE those little boots!!! Those are real crocs

Awwww….a little tree hugger !

Like father, like son..how sweet is this…

Wants to be like dad, but still nothing comforts like mommy…. and maybe a thumb in your mouth:)

Well that’s it for now–as you can see, I have been keeping busy this summer! Thanks to all for allowing me to share in these special times with you! Best wishes and much love to all the new parents and parents to be!
Enjoy parenthood–I’m not a parent yet, but I already know how much joy a child can bring into one’s life.
