The Girl Behind the Lens!

Welcome to Amy Symes Photography, a blog showcasing recent work to both current and potential clients!

A little bit about me...

I am a wife and mother of a beautiful baby girl, passionate about art, culture, travel and good food (though, it couldn't hurt if I spent more time in the kitchen!) and of course, photography!

I'm a hopeless romantic with an eye for detail and a great desire to capture those tender, candid moments shared between couples on their wedding day, expectant parents anticipating the arrival of a special someone and families spending precious time together. My ultimate goal is to share your love stories through photography.

Have a look around! Here on the blog you'll find my most recent work or head over to my website/ online portfolio to check out the galleries. Additonally, if you are a bride or couple planning a wedding, be inspired by fresh ideas and real weddings on Wedding Envy .  There you will also find local vendors and other resources!

Think we're a good fit?  Please contact me using the blog or website submission form or at symes (dot) amy (at) gmail (dot) com   (written this way to prevent spammers!)

If you'd like to receive email notifications when I've added a new post,  enter your email under the "subscribe" tab!  I proimse, you won't be disappointed!

Looking forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Amy

Fresh Summer Salad!

If there’s one thing I love more than eating food–it’s photographing it! Summer is such a great time for that too, when there are all sorts of fresh fruits and veggies that make for bright, colourful and delicious shots!

For our 2 year anniversary, Andrew and I went to the Keg (thanks to a generous gift card from his boss, Maria! Thanks, Maria!).  Anyways, I love trying different salads and thought this time I’d try this fresh spinach salad with dried cranberries!   It was so tasty and so simple that I decided to do it at home–why not! All you need is: baby spinach leaves or arugula–whichever you prefer, dried cranberries (which by the way, sometimes contain sunflower oil, so check the label!! Did anyone else know that? Sorry Charmaine haha!), sliced/shaved almonds (I believe at the Keg, they used some sort of roasted almond), red onion and some blue cheese for a little kick! It’s definitely pungent, but wow, for a salad so simple, the flavours blend so nicely!  I served this with homemade balsamic vinaigrette (raspberry vinaigrette actually), but regular oil and vinegar would be good too.

Anyways, it’s delicious, easy and cheap to make, so I thought I’d share! Bon appetit! Let me know what you think!
