The Girl Behind the Lens!

Welcome to Amy Symes Photography, a blog showcasing recent work to both current and potential clients!

A little bit about me...

I am a wife and mother of a beautiful baby girl, passionate about art, culture, travel and good food (though, it couldn't hurt if I spent more time in the kitchen!) and of course, photography!

I'm a hopeless romantic with an eye for detail and a great desire to capture those tender, candid moments shared between couples on their wedding day, expectant parents anticipating the arrival of a special someone and families spending precious time together. My ultimate goal is to share your love stories through photography.

Have a look around! Here on the blog you'll find my most recent work or head over to my website/ online portfolio to check out the galleries. Additonally, if you are a bride or couple planning a wedding, be inspired by fresh ideas and real weddings on Wedding Envy .  There you will also find local vendors and other resources!

Think we're a good fit?  Please contact me using the blog or website submission form or at symes (dot) amy (at) gmail (dot) com   (written this way to prevent spammers!)

If you'd like to receive email notifications when I've added a new post,  enter your email under the "subscribe" tab!  I proimse, you won't be disappointed!

Looking forward to working with you!

Sincerely,

Amy

Baby Cameron

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve last posted! It’s terrible, I know! I have taken a little break, not because blogging is overwhelming but because blogging combined with school work, report cards, marking (which I’m forever behind on) and just plain old down time is too much sometimes!  I figure since the spirit moved me tonight, I would blog a little something.  I have been meaning to post these photos for weeks now, since I had finished them actually!  This was from my first newborn session, with a little boy named Cameron.  He was only 1-2 weeks old at the time! So darn tiny!  It was definitely a good experience, but a lot more challenging than I had anticipated! It’s hard to pose little guys like this! For fear of breaking him, I let his parents handle him as much as possible.  Maybe with more experience and practice, I’ll feel more comfortable posing other people’s children! Unfortunately, Cameron wasn’t a happy camper that day, but we made the best of the situation. In any case, I think they photos came out well and his parents seemed happy :)   Here are some of my favourite shots from this session.  Cameron’s mom actually knit this precious little hat.

No matter how many times I’ve seen them or photographed them, I never tire of seeing baby feet…adult feet, not so much, haha!

He was kind of fussy about this for a few minutes, then all of a sudden, he was completely contented.  I think this is just precious!  I adore how his little toes are curled  :P guitar1

in dads arms1I’ll end off with this one.  Some friends of the family had stopped by during our shoot and had brought them this little outfit for Cameron.  Isn’t it just so cute!! Love the little tie!!  What I love about this shot is the cool, relaxed, kind of chilled out look and pose Cameron is in.  outfit5BW

Anyways, hope you’ve enjoyed these! I promise to blog again soon!  On the horizon: a friend’s wedding, some more baby shots and a “love” not engagement session :)
